Hello again,
This was my first proper RC car, and the only one I have bought new so far. It was back when I was a proper noob and abused it without proper maintainance so it got into a pretty bad state. I had to replace some bearings and a few other odd bits. I killed the ESC/receiver combo that came with it a while ago (From water) and not used it since. Decided now is a good time as any to get it going again, as it is actually pretty tough, and great when I want my RC fix but all my other cars a broken. And it is so small I can put it in a backpack when going places and just get it out at a good point and enjoy.
I was going to revive it a while ago, and already had a 25A ESC from a Vaterra Slickrock crawler and a spare RX so was using that. Yestarday I took it out for a bit of a bash in the garden and cooked the motor, so something is not happy. There is far too much resistance in the driveline from something, so I need to investigate that. I had a spare motor from a different project anyway, so that was less of an issue. I also know my pinion and spur are very worn. What stopped the previous revival effort was the lack of availability of these parts, but I looked on Modelsport today and they were back in stock, so I have ordered a metal spur and new 12T pinion. These are the same as the Ripmax 1/18 so I am using parts from that as Dromida bit's are really hard to find around the uk now. Means that they are all anodized red aluminium parts so that makes a nice difference from my usual blue and silver/grey. I also got a Hobbywing 1060. I just need to decide do I solder the ESC to the motor, or put a plug on it? And do I keep the Deans I have on my current LiPo or switch to XT60. The deans are seemign really hard to put together and take apart so I will probably switch.
Anyway, until the parts arrive I will not be doing anything else with this, and then I will probably check a lot of the bearings and try to find the problem I think I have.
